With 1.6% growth over the past year, the total workforce in the Brazilian technology sector reached 1.2 million employees in 2025.
Of these, approximately 38% are based in the state of São Paulo, which accounted for 451,300 employees. Next in line are Santa Catarina (102,200 employees and an 8.53% share) and Minas Gerais (101,600 employees and an 8.48% share).
The state of Santa Catarina has overtaken Minas Gerais to become the second-largest tech employment hub, accounting for 8.53% of the Brazilian total.
Its growth rate of +1.8% exceeds the Brazilian average (+1.5%), trailing only Rio de Janeiro (+5%) among the states with the most significant presence in the sector.

Furthermore, the average compensation in Santa Catarina’s technology sector—R$ 6,195 in 2025—is approximately double that of the state's retail sector.

Beyond the issue of representation, the growth in the number of employees in Santa Catarina’s technology sector has emerged as a key driver of the state's economy in recent years.
Since 2007, Santa Catarina has continued to solidify its position as a technology hub, with a growing workforce driving the sector and achieving a 380% growth rate over 18 years (rising from 21,000 to 102,000 jobs). During the same period, the construction sector grew by 114%, tourism by 84%, commerce by 70%, and the industrial sector by 38%.
