In 2024, Santa Catarina's technology sector established itself as the 5th largest hub in Brazil, recording revenue of R$42.5 billion. This figure represents 11% growth for the year and puts the state ahead of Rio Grande do Sul, which totaled R$41 billion.
Furthermore, Santa Catarina's technology sector accounts for the third-largest share of Brazil's GDP, demonstrating its economic importance. With a 7.75% share, Santa Catarina's technology sector is above the national average, trailing only Amazonas (14.9%) and São Paulo (10.5%).

The total revenue of the Brazilian technology sector in 2024 was R$813 billion, with a growth of 7.8% compared to the previous year.
The state of São Paulo remains the absolute leader in the sector's revenue, with an amount of R$375.7 billion, which is equivalent to 46% of the national total.

Despite losing 0.5 pp of market share over the last four years, São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro continue to be the states with the highest revenue in the technology sector.
The states that had the greatest gain in participation in the period were Paraná (+0.53 pp), Ceará (+0.29 pp) and Santa Catarina (+0.28 pp).
Thus, the share of revenue from São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, which already totaled 57% in 2018, is now 54%.
Growth of the technology sector by state
Considering all Brazilian states, Sergipe, Acre, Amapá and Rondônia stood out with growth above 30%.
Among the 10 states with the highest expression, Ceará (+20.5%), Paraná (+18.7%), Bahia (+15.6%), Distrito Federal (+11.8%), Santa Catarina (+11%) and Minas Gerais (+10.8%) showed growth rates above the Brazilian average.
São Paulo (+6.6%), Rio de Janeiro (+4.1%) and Rio Grande do Sul (+2.5%) showed lower growth rates.

Santa Catarina revenue
Greater Florianópolis continues to be the region with the highest concentration of businesses in the sector in the state, with 42.5% of the state's revenue.
Next comes the Itajaí Valley, with 23.7% and the North Santa Catarina mesoregion, with 17.6%.
Southern Santa Catarina, with 7.3%, has a smaller share, but is still significant within the state. Finally, the Southern and Serrana regions have 6.3% and 2.6%.

The graph on the distribution of revenue by mesoregion in Santa Catarina shows the Greater Florianópolis region as the state leader, standing out with 42.5% of Santa Catarina's total revenue.
The Itajaí Valley and the North region are also highly relevant to the sector, accounting for 24% and 18% of total revenue, respectively. Next come the West, South, and Mountain regions, which together account for approximately 16% of total revenue.
The technology sector's revenue of R$42.5 billion represents approximately 7.75% of all production in the state of Santa Catarina (+0.25 pp compared to 2023).
This sector's participation in the state's economy is the largest in the South Region and higher than most other Brazilian states, placing Santa Catarina in the position of 3rd largest Brazilian participation in GDP by the technology sector.
Technology sector productivity by state
In terms of productivity, the state of Paraná leads the ranking, with an annual revenue per employee of R$844,000. Next in line are São Paulo (R$836,000) and Rio de Janeiro (R$775,000).
The technology sector in Santa Catarina has a characteristic of greater employability (labor intensive), which makes its productivity lower than that of Paraná, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and the national average (driven by São Paulo).
Even so, Santa Catarina's technology sector remains among the ten most productive in Brazil.
Sector collection
Considering the data on the collection of the Tax on Services of Any Nature (ISS) in Santa Catarina municipalities coming from the technology sector, the growth of 135% between 2019 and 2023 in the municipality of Itajaí and more than 150% in the municipality of Rio do Sul stands out.
In Florianópolis, the amount collected also increased considerably during the period (+85%), coming very close to the amount of R$100 million in tax collected.
